I build a therapeutic relationship that helps clients feel safe to share what is going on in their lives and to work to understand and problem solve these concerns together. My therapeutic practice can best be described as following an evidence-based behavioral practice model. Within this model, my goal is to work with my clients to find a treatment that (a) best fits their goals for coming to treatment, (b) has the greatest evidence to support its usefulness, and (c) takes into consideration the unique personal, social, and cultural history of the individual with whom I am working. With regard to specific treatment models, I have significant experience and training working from within Cognitive-Behavioral, Interpersonal, and Brief Psychodynamic perspectives. Although open to working with a wide variety of presenting concerns, most of my work focuses on depression, anxiety, couples/marital distress, adjustment issues, anger, and body image concerns.

I obtained my doctoral degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where I received intensive training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). While the foundation of my work is in the structure and skill-building of CBT, I individually tailor the structure of therapy to your needs and the challenges of your daily life.
I work with adults and teenagers with mood and anxiety disorders, relationship challenges, and eating disorders. Through play, talk, and animal assisted therapy with my Portuguese Water Dog Franklin, I enjoy helping clients figure out their own strengths and needs, and how to manage challenges to become their best self. With a doctorate in clinical psychology focusing on children and families, I particularly enjoy working with individuals who are in transitions in school, college, or helping children and parents navigate a divorce. I enjoy working with those experiencing behavioral difficulties linked to ADHD, Autism, and anxiety.
By learning about your own body and how these symptoms impact daily life and interactions with others, you can gain skills for better management. In finding out the why, the how becomes easier, leading to improvements in your own life as well as in your relationships with others. Therapy can be an eye-opening, validating, and even fun venture with life-long effects. Using techniques from CBT, Gestalt, family, play, integrative, developmental, psychodynamic and trauma-informed therapies, I tailor the therapy process to meet your individual goals.

Whether you are experiencing major life events, struggling with emotional challenges, or just looking for an empathic space to work through issues, together we will enhance your existing strengths and build stronger resiliency to grow in the face of life’s challenges. A key to growth and wellness is a better understanding of yourself, including how your past impacts your present.
I specialize in providing counseling to those experiencing difficulties related to trauma/compounded traumas, mood, anxiety, life transitions, emerging adulthood stressors, relationship difficulties, school stress/perfectionism, chronic health, grief/loss, and LGBTQA+ related stressors. My therapeutic style is Client-Centered Cognitive-Behavioral, I approach treatment collaboratively and from a strength-based perspective. I believe treatment requires the foundation of a strong therapeutic alliance, one of trust, empathy, and unconditional positive regard (basic acceptance and support of a person regardless of what the person says or does). I work with clients to identify how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors impact one another, and together we develop ways to improve these patterns.
Since 2011, my clinical experience includes working in a variety of hospital, facility, home, office, and community mental health-based settings providing both psychotherapy and neuropsychological testing. I received my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Temple University. My training was focused on mood disorders, depression in particular, and I have worked with some of the leading researchers in the field. My other interests include health psychology – I was part of the Temple Hospital Heart Transplant Team for 2 years and helped patients through the various stages of heart and other organ transplants. In addition, I am fluent in Mandarin Chinese and have done cross-culture research on optimism and wellbeing. I have been sought out by many who wish to approach their concerns in therapy with cultural sensitivity. My psychotherapy focus at The Center includes issues such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, stress, grief, PTSD, and life transitions (challenges of young adulthood, career decisions and changes, relationship concerns, etc.). In addition to using a variety of evidence-based tools, I encourage and help clients develop a sense of curiosity into how they have become the people they are today. The goal is for the clients to have a better understanding of themselves – why they think, feel, and act the way they do. With this awareness, the clients can better leverage their strengths and learn to prevent their weaknesses from getting in their way of living a fulfilling life.
Scheduling
During your first call an intake coordinator will ask the concern(s) prompting your call to determine which service or psychologist is likely to be the best match for your needs and your schedule.
Please have your insurance information and a credit card available when you call. It is important to verify your outpatient “mental health” or “behavioral health” benefits for both in-person and telehealth visits by calling your insurance company. Occasionally benefits are quoted in discrepant ways by insurance companies. If you and the practice obtain the same information, we can be relatively certain it is accurate.
Our intake coordinators are available from 9 am until 4 pm Monday through Friday. If you do not reach us directly, please leave a message and your call will be returned.
Initial Appointment
In-Person
Parking is free and found in the front lot or behind our building. Please wear a mask and make yourself comfortable in the waiting room of Suite 134 when you arrive. Your psychologist may be in session with another client, but will be with you promptly. Be sure to fill out and sign all the paperwork in the Therapy Portal before your appointment or fill out the papers on the clipboards hanging in the waiting area.
Telehealth
Everything you need for your Telehealth appointment is found in the “Telehealth Link and Benefits” document on the Therapy Portal.
————————————————
During the first session your psychologist will be working to understand the concerns that are bringing you to therapy as well as information about your life. We are all affected by our past and present. The better your psychologist understands you, the better they can help. If there is information your psychologist hasn’t asked about, but you feel could be pertinent, please speak up!
Ongoing Therapy
The therapy process is goal oriented, but often hard to predict. You and your psychologist will begin to develop a rhythm for discussing problems, deepening understanding of patterns in your life, and forging new approaches to difficult situations. Therapy requires active work in session and practice outside of session in order to be most effective. It also requires trust and honest exploration. The match between psychologist and client is vital. You should have sense of whether you connect, trust, and can open up to your psychologist by the third session.
If you don’t feel like your psychologist is a good match for you, please speak up. Sometimes the problem can be addressed in session with a few adjustments. Other times it is better to change psychologists. That’s okay. Finding the right psychologist is like finding a pair of jeans. Some brands fit you perfectly, while others are just not quite comfortable. We understand this and your psychologist will not take it personally.
We are in network with many major insurance companies. Network status is subject to change. Nutrition counseling has additional networks.
Please call us to determine network status for behavioral health and nutritional counseling.
We will work with out of network insurance.
Frequently Asked Questions
“I lost the link/password to the Therapy Portal. Can you help me?”
Yes! Please click here for the link to our Therapy Portal. If you have forgotten your password call 610-878-9330 and we will reset it. When logged into the Therapy Portal you will find all your intake paperwork including a Cost of Service Estimate (insurance benefits), how to connect with your clinician or directions to the office.
"Do you take insurance?"
Yes! The Center, LLC is in network with many major insurance companies and we will work with out of network insurances and as a courtesy sometimes are able to submit these electronically as well.
Insurance can be confusing. It is vital that we call to verify benefits before you come in and that you do the same. Some plans do not have mental health benefits, others may have a “carve out” in which the insurance card says “Aetna,” but the mental health benefits are covered by another company. Each insurance policy is determined by the insurance company and the employing company that purchases the policy. The Center, LLC does not choose your co-payment, it is determined by your insurance policy. We will work with you to understand your policy and to know your benefits before the first session.
“Why does The Center, LLC charge for missed appointments?”
When you schedule an appointment, your psychologist agrees to give you an hour of their time and you agree to use that time. Therapy works when both parties honor their agreement. When you miss your appointment three people are affected: you, because you did not gain from the service, your psychologist who has an unscheduled hour, and the client waiting for an appointment space to open up in order to begin therapy.
“I have a very busy schedule. Are your hours flexible?”
Yes. The Center, LLC offers daytime, evening, and Saturday appointments. Please keep in mind that appointment spots in the late afternoon, evening and on Saturday fill up quickly!
“How do I make an appointment?”
Contact The Center, LLC using the form below or call us at 610-878-9330. An intake coordinator will be happy to discuss our services and schedule an initial appointment. If you are unable to reach us we may be helping someone else, please leave a message on our confidential voicemail and you will receive a call back within one to two business days.
“What’s the difference between a psychiatrist, psychologist, and counselor/therapist?”
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in mental health disorders and prescribes medication to help alleviate mental health symptoms.
A psychologist has a doctorate degree in psychology who works to alleviate symptoms using talk therapy. The term psychologist is protected so that anyone using the title psychologist MUST have appropriate training. A counselor or therapist is usually someone with a master’s degree in social work or a related counseling field. There are many wonderful therapists and counselors; however, because the term therapist or counselor is unregulated, anyone can call themselves a counselor. It is important to check the credentials and training of any therapist or counselor you may be working with.
“What do all the letters mean?”
There are many degrees and certifications that signify various types of training for psychologists and therapists.
Here is a short list:
- PhD: Doctor of Philosophy. This degree is the most traditional degree for a psychologist.
- PsyD: Doctor of Psychology. This degree is similar to a Ph.D., but the training is focused more on direct client care than on research.
- MA: Masters degree. In most cases, a person with this degree is a therapist or counselor.
- BCB: Board certified in Biofeedback through the BCIA
- BCN: Board certified in Neurofeedback through the BCIA
Telehealth and In-person appointments - what are my choices?
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic extra precautions are in place for in-person appointments and we conduct most psychotherapy through telehealth.
Biofeedback training appointments are conducted in person. Currently we are requiring all individuals to be masked in the waiting area and during the session independent of COVID-19 vaccination status.
Psychotherapy appointment locations are at the discretion of the psychologist. Several psychologists are conducting in-person appointments but availability for these is limited and verification of vaccination for COVID-19 is required. Masking in the waiting area is required and during the appointment at the psychologist's discretion.
We will discuss the options available during your intake coordination call and are happy to answer any questions. Requirements are subject to change based on CDC recommendations.
